Why Sapphic Age Gap Romance Is My Favorite Trope To Write
I’ve always been drawn to sapphic age gap romance. There’s something so compelling about the dynamic between an older, more experienced character and their younger, vibrant counterpart.
The tension, the emotional push-and-pull, and the way these relationships challenge societal expectations—all of it captivates me.
It’s no surprise, then, that age gap romance has become something of a specialty for me. Over the years, I’ve written countless stories that explore this trope in all its glorious complexity, and I’ve even been (humbly) called the queen of sapphic age gap romance. I just can’t get enough!
If you love this trope as much as I do, here are some of my books that dive deep into the delicious world of sapphic age gap romance.
Seasons of Love
She’s disciplined, reserved—and completely blindsided by love.
When successful solicitor Alice McAllister takes a forced vacation, the last thing she expects is Joy, her law partner’s free-spirited daughter, crashing into her world. Their passionate holiday romance is steamy, but can it survive the realities of their age gap—and their very different lives?
The Duet
Onstage chemistry, offstage complications.
Lana Lynch, a queer rock icon, reluctantly finds herself on a comeback tour with Cleo Palmer, a rising star who idolizes her. Sparks fly during their nightly duet, but will their age difference—and the weight of their pasts—stand in the way of real love?
In the Distance There Is Light
From shared grief comes unexpected love.
When Sophie and Dolores lose the same man, their shared sorrow draws them together. In the process, they discover a connection neither anticipated. This emotional and controversial story explores healing, hope, and finding love in the unlikeliest places.
At Your Most Beautiful
One unforgettable night. Ten years later.
Quinn Hathaway and Maya Mercer once shared a night of forbidden passion. When they reunite a decade later, their connection reignites—but family obligations and societal expectations threaten to keep them apart. Will they finally choose love over fear?
If You Kiss Me Like That
Love often arrives when you least expect it.
Ashley Cooper’s life takes an unexpected turn when she finds herself seated next to Gloria Young, her mother’s friend, at a family event. What begins as a surprising connection evolves into a romance that challenges both women to embrace their true desires.
Next in Line for Love
Enemies in the boardroom, lovers at heart.
Ali Lennox returns to Los Angeles to take over her family’s company, only to butt heads with COO Jill Gold. Jill views Ali as an entitled newcomer, but their shared ambition and simmering attraction might just lead to something more.
Why I Love Writing Sapphic Age Gap Romance
For me, age gap romances aren’t just about the romantic tension (though that’s a big part of the fun). They’re about exploring growth, connection, and the way love can bridge seemingly impossible divides.
Older characters bring so much depth and experience to the table, while their younger counterparts inject energy, curiosity, and a willingness to question the status quo. It’s a dynamic that I never tire of writing, and it’s a joy to bring these love stories to life.
Your Next Sapphic Age Gap Obsession
Whether you’re in the mood for a steamy holiday romance (Seasons of Love), a heart-wrenching journey through grief (In the Distance There Is Light), or some irresistible onstage chemistry (The Duet), I’ve got you covered.
Age gap romance will always hold a special place in my heart, and I hope you’ll love these stories as much as I do.
